Benchmark – Capstone Project Change Proposal Dissemination and Reflection

Dissemination of the capstone project change proposal to the relevant stakeholders is essential to enhance their understanding and acceptance of the intervention. During the presentation of the capstone change project, the audience comprised interdisciplinary stakeholders and leaders in the practicum site, which included nurse managers and leaders, nurse supervisors, the chief nursing officer, and the organizational management team (Reuter-Sandquist et al., 2022). These positions were all critical to the proposed project since they held various roles and responsibilities during the implementation. Nurse managers and leaders trained nurses, while the nurse supervisor oversaw the implementation of the proposed change as nurses and chief nursing officers implemented all aspects of the project. Organizational management provided resources and support for the completion of the project.

During the presentation, I communicated professionally in various ways that included being clear and concise in my delivery, actively engaging with the audience, and ensuring that my body language mirrored my delivery. For instance, I avoided jargon and complex words and had a structured presentation with a clear introduction and purpose, a body that entailed all aspects of the project, and a conclusion aimed at urging and encouraging all present to accept the proposed change intervention. I actively engaged with the audience by maintaining eye contact, responding to questions and their feedback, and being confident, honest, and inviting (North, 2024). This approach allowed the audience to follow along and helped disseminate core aspects and points of the presentation.

The audience had a positive response to the proposal with a significant participants appreciating the effort, and the intended impact of the implementation. The feedback was generally positive as the audience acknowledged the impact of the project on nosocomial infections among burn wound patients and as a way of improving processes and procedures in the practicum site to prevent, reduce, and control infections. However, some questions arose about the pragmatism of the implementation plan, particularly the long-term integration of strict sterilization and decontamination protocols among nurses and other providers (Reuter-Sandquist et al., 2022). The approach to training nurses and ensuring compliance remains a real concern, and the audience did not shy away from seeking assurances. Biases to change, assumptions about the position of nurses, and the overall need for change implementation may have affected the presentation. However, presenting to a diverse group of healthcare professionals and managers emphasized the importance of having effective professionalism and cross-disciplinary communication attributes.

Inter-professional collaboration is at the core of quality care delivery in healthcare, especially for nurses from diverse specialties and teams. Consequently, inter-professional collaboration will impact my future professional practice through enhanced patient care by focusing on patient-centered approaches and improving outcomes, and professional development that entails learning from others, improving communication skills, and system improvement as demonstrated by better efficiency, and innovative approaches to care delivery (McLaney et al., 2024). For instance, through inter-professional collaboration, I will improve my skills and abilities by learning during the implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions.
