Be sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (S.M.A.R.T. goals).

Develop 1-2 goals per competency.

Some goals should reflect higher cognitive learning levels in Bloom’s taxonomy.

My goal/s for this competency is/are to:

1.      By the conclusion of this practicum week, create and execute a formative and summative assessment plan for a nursing education session that assesses the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains and is in line with the course goals (Arribas-Marín et al., 2024).

2.      Examine and implement performance data and student input to adjust teaching methods, guaranteeing a minimum of 10% increase in test scores or student engagement on follow-up assessments (D’Aoust et al., 2021).

Resources and Strategies: What type of resources or strategies will you utilize to accomplish your learning goals? Include both human and material resources.
I will work with my preceptor and the course instructors to examine the most recent evaluation techniques, assessment instruments, and rubrics used in the nursing education program to accomplish these aims. I will make use of materials from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the National League for Nursing (NLN), and academic research on evidence-based evaluation procedures. To improve teaching efficacy, I use techniques like creating simulated checklists and quizzes, holding organized debriefings, and going over student assessments. To guarantee impartiality, uniformity, and equitable evaluation across various learning areas, I will also make use of digital tools like ExamSoft and simulation software (D’Aoust et al., 2021).
Measurement: How will you know that you have accomplished your learning goal(s)? What criteria will you use to measure this?
The criteria I will use to measure my goals are: Successful creation and implementation of assessment tools that are valid, reliable, and aligned with course outcomes. Evidence will include completed rubrics, student performance summaries, and feedback from my preceptor confirming tool effectiveness. Quantitative data, such as improved student test scores or engagement rates, and qualitative data from student reflections and observations will serve as measurable indicators of success(Arribas-Marín et al., 2024).
Complete this section after you complete the week’s nursing education practicum. Evaluation: Did you meet your goal? What did you accomplish that you can use as evidence that you met your learning goals?
I met my goals by implementing both formative and summative assessments during classroom and simulation activities. Evaluation was made more equitable and transparent via the use of guided feedback and standardized rubrics. Student performance and engagement increased after the review, and preceptor comments verified that the tactics were suitable, successful, and in line with the goals of the course (Waldrop et al., 2023).
Reflect on Competency 3, analyzing your nursing education practicum experiences: Be sure to connect your experiences directly to the competency.
Reflection: This competency strengthened my ability to design and apply diverse, evidence-based assessment and evaluation strategies that address all learning domains. I learned how to interpret assessment data to inform teaching adjustments and enhance student outcomes. These experiences deepened my confidence as a nurse educator in creating fair, learner-centered evaluations that foster reflective practice and continuous improvement.
