NR 707A Week 6 Discussion: Project Dissemination Through Journal Publication

Part 1: All students

The “Journal of Advanced Nursing” is a suitable peer-reviewed nursing journal with articles similar to my DNP project topic. The author’s guidelines on the Journal of Advanced Nursing are in the URL: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/13652648/homepage/forauthors.html.

The set word limits depend on the article type for a manuscript from the project like the DNP one the word limit is 8000. Carefully review the types of articles the Journal considers for publication in the chart below and all the guidelines included throughout.

Right after graduation, I am considering submitting the manuscript of my DNP project to the “Journal of Advanced Nursing.” I expect to support this process by teaming up with a mentor who is well-versed in academic writing and guides through the publication process (Dagne & Beshah, 2021). Their skill and knowledge will be highly useful to ensure that the work is of a high standard and relevant and in dealing with the peer-review process productively.

Barriers and Strategies

The first impediment to journal publication is unfamiliarity with the academic writing conventions and the publication process. I intend to seek mentorship and guidance from accomplished scientists and university instructors to counter this. Besides, several time pressures and competing obligations may emerge when writing a paper. This can be remedied by putting aside some time for writing and editing specifically, doing priority tasks well, and regularly speaking with my mentor to keep track of deadlines and necessary stages. Besides that, I will also pursue constructive peer and colleague reviews to improve my manuscript and ensure it meets the submission’s standards.

Part 2: Students Implementing at the Practicum Site

Practice Question

For adult psychiatric patients at Desai Medical Group, does the implementation of a mindfulness-based stress reduction program, compared to current practice, impact anxiety levels in 8-10 weeks? We are currently in Week 9 of intervention implementation.

Evaluation of Implementation Progress

We have seen steady progress as the intervention has been fully implemented without any change to the plan. Three main successes are the high attendance rate, the ever-increasing commitment level, and the mindfulness program’s positive feedback. Nevertheless, the problem of saving resources and sometimes logistics has been raised. The selected translational science, knowledge-to-action model has demonstrated great effectiveness in directing the implementation with the accent put on understandability and experts in the field involvement (Torres et al., 2023). This approach’s greatest competency is its systematic implementation of the research in practice, which correlates fully with the project goals. Hence, the discussion points to the key role of implementing journal publications to share DNP project outcomes and provides insights into the implementation process and choosing the translational science theory to help the project.

Discussion

Purpose

The purpose of this discussion is to explore journal publication as a means of dissemination. Because there is a major assignment this week in the course, the discussion below is abbreviated to allow students more time to work on the Professional Poster Video Presentation assignment.

Instructions

All students respond to Part 1 and Part 2 every week. Use the numbered questions as headers in your response. Students who are implementing respond to Part 1 and Part 2—Implementing. Students who are conducting a case study respond to Part 1 and Part 2—Case Study.

Part 1: All Students

Reflect upon your readings and professional experience and address the following in 150 words or less:

  1. Select a peer-reviewed nursing journal that published similar articles to your DNP project topic and identify the journal name.
  2. Find the author’s guidelines on the journal website and add the author guidelines URL.
  3. State the word or page limit for the manuscript as found in the author guidelines. If there is no limit, please state that.
  4. Detail your plans to publish a manuscript in a journal after graduation. Determine if you plan to partner with a mentor to support your publishing work.
  5. Evaluate barriers or challenges to journal publication and propose strategies for overcoming those barriers.

Part 2: Students Implementing at the Practicum Site

For this week’s implementation update, address the following:

  1. State your practice question in PICOT format.
  2. State the week # for your intervention implementation.
  3. Evaluate your implementation progress and any successes, barriers, or challenges you are experiencing with your practice change project implementation.
  4. What are you learning about the translational science model you selected as the framework for your project? Analyze the strengths of this model and how it works congruently with your current implementation plan or determine why this model is not appropriate for the current implementation plan. If not appropriate, what model would you select now given your experience?

Part 2: Students Completing the Case Study

For this week’s case study update, address the following:

  1. State your practice question in PICOT format and include the week # for your implementation.
  2. Explain the best practices for implementing evidence-based practice guidelines with references sufficient to support best practice.
  3. Propose strategies for overcoming barriers in implementing evidence-based practice with references sufficient to support strategies.
  4. Describe your formative evaluations. How are you addressing challenges, low intervention fidelity, and providing feedback?
  5. What are you learning about the translational science model you selected as the framework for your project? Analyze the strengths of this model and how it works congruently with your current implementation plan or determine why this model is not appropriate for the current implementation plan. If not appropriate, what model would you select now given your experience?

Note: Robust responses are required to fulfill the Case Study requirements. Use the numbered points provided as headings.
