Objective 1: Over the next ten weeks, I will conduct clinical evaluations on at least three persons who have been diagnosed with numerous mental illnesses, following the diagnostic criteria specified in the DSM-V.

Planned Activities: For the purpose of reducing avoidable disruptions in medication distribution, I will diligently review the health records of each patient during my routine hourly inspections (Fraino & Selix, 2021).

Mode of Assessment: In order to achieve my objectives, I need to conduct a minimum of ten diagnostic evaluations per week (Wesemann & Handrup, 2021).

PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:

  • Consider both the present and future ability of a person to become an exceptionally skilled psychiatric-mental health nurse.
  • Enhance the diagnosis procedure for individuals receiving mental health care in a hospital or comparable environment, irrespective of their age.
  • Utilize modern nursing techniques to assess, recognize, and oversee patients with mental health disorders.

Objective 2: Within the next eight weeks, I will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately identify the most effective screening instrument and its optimal use for detecting a minimum of five persons each day who have coexisting mental health issues.

Planned Activities: I will explore many approaches to diagnosing mental disorders. Consequently, I will employ the most efficient diagnostic methodologies customized for each individual, using data that is both subjective and objective (Wesemann et al., 2022).

Mode of Assessment: The DSM-V diagnostic guidelines will be used to see how well the information gathered matches up with the diagnostic tool’s data (Frissora & Ranz, 2021).

PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:

  • Apply the acquired expertise in advanced nursing practice to assess patients with mental illness, provide diagnoses, and deliver treatment in mental healthcare environments.
  • Analyze many instances of pioneering therapies for mental disorders that have been delivered to individuals across various age groups.
  • Recognize the need to make a differential diagnosis when offering mental health assistance to persons across all age ranges.

Objective 3: During the following eleven weeks, I will include offering advice to at least five patients on how to maximize the effectiveness of psychotropic drugs. Additionally, I will actively engage in group counseling sessions and lead family therapy sessions, all with the aim of improving their treatment results.

Planned Activities: My everyday responsibilities will include helping clients comprehend their mental health conditions, including the root reasons and available treatment choices, such as psychological counseling (Vick et al., 2024).

Mode of Assessment: In order to assess satisfaction among patients, I will proactively solicit feedback and promptly address any inquiries they may have regarding the information I have provided (Haefner & Filter, 2022).

PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:

  • Explore the development of novel therapies for mental disorders that impact individuals across all age ranges.

Practicum Experience Plan (PEP)

As you establish your goals and objectives for this course, you are committing to an organized plan that will frame your practicum experience in a clinical setting, including planned activities, assessment, and achievement of defined outcomes. In particular, they must address the categories of clinical reasoning, quality in your clinical specialty, and interpersonal collaborative practice.

For this Assignment, you will consider the areas you aim to focus on to gain practical experience as an advanced practice nurse. Then, you will develop a Practicum Experience Plan (PEP) containing the objectives you will fulfill in order to achieve your aims. In this practicum experience, when developing your goals and objectives, be sure to keep psychotherapy approaches and techniques in mind.
